KATYA SILVEIRA

Meet our College Prep and Juniors Coach Kat Silveira!

I’ve been around volleyball all my life because I grew up watching my dad play indoor and beach volleyball. I started playing indoor volleyball when I was 8 years old and began playing in beach tournaments when I was 11. I was an outside hitter in club volleyball and played all 6 rotations. I was team captain on my high school varsity team my junior and senior year and got MVP both of those years as well.

I fell in love with beach volleyball right away and began taking it more seriously when I was 14. I traveled all over Texas for qualifiers and played in USAV nationals and AAU nationals every year after that. I committed to play at Houston Baptist University in 2017 and started at the 3 seed as a freshman. I still play in Women’s Open tournaments around Texas and the country and train a few days a week. I play at Third Coast all the time and it is by far my favorite place to play! When I’m not playing volleyball, I enjoy traveling, reading, or hanging out with my two corgis!

I began coaching beach volleyball the summer of 2018 and indoor volleyball that year as well. I love coaching and helping players get into beach volleyball at an early age. I love how beach volleyball creates well-rounded players because of having to do every skill – passing, setting and hitting. My goal is to show my love of the game to my players and help them improve their skill levels, but also making sure they know how to be a good teammate to their partner on the court.

I am very excited to be coaching the College Prep program for Third Coast Juniors! I look forward to working with the other 3C coaches on growing the game and sharing our knowledge of volleyball.
